OBJECTS AND ORIGINS
Objects and origins
Why am I here ? If you have found me at FLEAFISH.COM you are likely wondering who is this ?, What is this ? and, Why is this website here ?
Who am I ? My name is Spencer Gorman. I have been a collector since I can remember. From my Philadelphia roots wandering through the Antique shops on Pine street with my grandfather, to antique shops, antique malls, auctions, yard sales, house sales, estate sales, and flea markets, I am always fishing for those bargains and unique objects that stimulate my sense of wonder. Who made this? How did they make it? Why did they make it?

Now the ultimate question. WHAT IS IT WORTH? After more than 40 years of observing objects, accumulating "stuff"and buying, buying, buying, I have found that I am always broke, always selling off one thing to acquire another and always involved in what I call  PROJECTS. I thought what a nice place a website could be to SHARE my projects with others.
Value is more than monetary value, value is emotional response. How do objects make us feel?

Origin of FLEAFISH

Flea: As a collector, I acquire objects made by man. I look at these objects and learn from them. There are so many objects in the world, that my collecting has an impact no bigger than a flea. My collecting, like a flea, leaves a lasting impression. I feel that flea nibbling at my soul.

Fish: As a young lad I played a card game and was told to "go fish".  My job was to find similar cards to make a set. The value of the cards was the same but the trump suits were different. I am constantly in that state of "go fish" but the pond I fish in has grown much larger and the values as well as the trumps have developed. Today my cards can be an enlightening experience.
